CJI expresses concern on passing of bills without debates

However, space for Leaders of opposition is diminishing in absence of thorough debate and politics has become acronymous. Political opposition should not transform into hostility which is being seen these days which are not signs of healthy democracy," CJI said.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts, which was also attended by Chief Justice N. V. Ramana, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Law and Justice S.P. Singh Baghel and Supreme Court judges. The Prime Minister insisted that judicial reform is not merely a policy matter and human sensitivities are involved and they should be kept in the centre of all the deliberations.
Ensure social justice in the appointment of Judges: Stalin

Speaking at the foundation stone laying function at the Madras High Court here, Stalin requested that the Collegium may ensure the principle of social justice in the appointment of High Court and Supreme Court judges. "In this way, I consider that the principle of inclusiveness would be ensured in higher judiciary," Stalin said.
