8 migrants drown along US-Mexico border
As many as 37 others have been rescued from the river near Eagle Pass of Texas, according to a statement issued on Friday from the US Customs and Border Protection. Six bodies were recovered by US Border Patrol agents, and two others by Mexican teams, said the statement. 10 gunmen killed in shootout with Mexican police
The gunfight began when agents from the local prosecutor's office attempted to carry out an arrest warrant and were met with gunfire, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the authorities. After the shootout, seven other gunmen, four of them injured, were detained, said the State Attorney General's Office.
