Their second victory at home meant Lucknow are the new table-toppers in the ten-team competition.

Lucknow drew first blood in the third over as Mayank Agarwal went for an uppish drive against Krunal, but he was undone by the flight and ended up giving a tame chip to cover. Anmolpreet Singh got some boundaries against spinners as well as Thakur with a lovely punch, sweep and chip over mid-off.

Both teams enter Friday's match after losses in their last game. While Hyderabad were thrashed by Rajasthan Royals by 72 runs, Lucknow suffered a 12-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings. After Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway shared a 110-run opening stand while Ambati Rayudu and captain M.S. Both Gaikwad (57) and Conway (47) played some outstanding shots to smash 79 runs in the Power-play, which became CSK's highest-ever Powerplay score at Chepauk, beating the previous best of 75. After taking CSK to 100 in eight overs, the duo fell in quick succession. But the rest of the batting order ensured CSK went past 200, especially with Dhoni treating the crowd to a short yet sparking innings in the final over.

After winning the toss, Rahul said Jaydev Unadkat goes out and Yash Thakur comes into the playing eleven, making it the lone change from their 50-run win over Delhi Capitals at home. "We want to know what we are chasing. It was a really good performance against DC, all parts of the game we did well. We need to turn up again today and better those performances."

In the match, where Delhi had a forgettable time in the fielding department, Kyle Mayers was on 14 when Khaleel Ahmed dropped his catch at short third off Chetan Sakariya in the sixth over. Mayers would go on to slam an explosive 38-ball 73 as Lucknow amassed 193/6 in their first-ever home game.

In defence of 193 for the Lucknow Super Giants, Wood, playing just his second IPL game, delivered one of the most scorching spells of fast-bowling in T20 cricket in recent times, as his 5/14 left Delhi in disarray and restricting them to 143/9, to set up a 50-run victory for his team.
IPL 2023: It was great to bat with David Warner, says Delhi Capitals' Rilee Rossouw

The Lucknow side put up 193/6 in their 20 overs and then restricted the Delhi Capitals to 143/9. However, there were a few positives for the former IPL finalists in that match -- a half-century struck by opener and skipper David Warner and his 38-run partnership with middle-order batter Railee Rossouw. That was the only partnership worth mentioning for in what looks like a brittle middle-order in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who is recovering from injuries suffered in a car cash.

Mayers' brilliant batting and breezy cameos by Nicholas Pooran (36) and Ayush Badoni (18) helped LSG post 193/6 in 20 overs, scoring 63 runs in the last five overs.
