Karnataka polls: BJP to finalise first list on April 8, says CM Basavaraj Bommai

While interacting with reporters, Chief Minister Bommai said that the opinions of all the leaders have been taken and will be discussed in the state-level core committee meeting to be held in the next two days. Then the Central Parliamentary Board meeting will take place on April 8 where the list will be finalised, he stated.

According to a senior leader of the AIADMK, Tamil Nadu has at least 10 constituencies where there is a sizeable presence of Tamil voters and the party is trying to capitalise on this factor in the May 10 Assembly elections.The AIADMK is likely to contest the polls in Bengaluru and Kolar districts of KarnatakazSources told IANS that the party leadership has already conducted one round of discussion with the BJP leadership of Tamil Nadu to have an alliance in Karnataka.
Karnataka polls: BJP leadership meet to decide on candidates, Congress finalises 2nd list

Screening committee of the ruling BJP in the state are meeting at a private resort here on Saturday to finalise candidates for the first list. The party had already collected opinion from the local leaders and officer-bearers of every Assembly constituency regarding the candidates. The leaders will hold discussions with core committee members.

Former Chief Minister and BJP Parliamentary Board Member B.S. Yediyurappa on Thursday stated that the party is contemplating to field his son Vijayendra from Varuna constituency. The high command will take a call on finalising the candidature of Vijayendra for Varuna, he added. Siddaramaiah's victory won't come easily.
Karnataka High Court disqualifies JD(S) MLA, gives relief for appeal

The single division bench headed by Justice Sunil Dutt Yadav gave him relief by issuing a stay on the order for one month. Gowrishankar represents the Tumakuru Rural constituency. His rival BJP candidate Suresh Gowda had filed a complaint against him. It was alleged that Gowrishankar had offered group health insurance schemes for elders and children through Maruthi Seva Trust, in which his family members are trustees, during the 2018 Assembly elections.

Zee News-Matrize opinion poll hints at tight contest in Karnataka

According to an opinion poll conducted by Zee News-Matrize between March 3 and March 28 among over 56,000 people, out of the 224 Assembly seats in Karnataka, BJP is expected to get 96 to 106 seats, while Congress is likely to win 88 to 98 seats, thus indicating a tough fight. The JD(S) is expected to win only 23 to 33 seats. The majority mark in the state Assembly is 112 seats.
