On a great run at Indian Wells, Jelena, the 2017 Roland Garros champion, defeated Hsieh Su-Wei, Yulia Putintseva, Iga Swiatek, and Shelby, to advance to her third semi-final of 2021, where she will face two-time champion Victoria Azarenka for a spot in her first WTA 1000 final since 2018 Miami. It was an up and down performance for Jeleba who fired 51 winners to 46 unforced errors in the match. Shelby hit 22 winners to 17 unforced errors.
Dimitrov stuns Medvedev with grand comeback at Indian Wells

Dimitrov, the 23rd seed rolled back the years as he battled back from 4-6, 1-4 down to move past the Russian 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 and produced one of the comebacks of the season on Wednesday, reaching the quarter-finals in Indian Wells for the first time. After appearing in total control, Medvedev lost his way, making just 34 percent of his first serves in the second set as Dimitrov forced the World No. 2 into errors with his aggressive game.
Azarenka edges past Kvitova; Halep eliminated in Indian Wells

In the latest chapter of a rivalry that dates back more than a decade, the two major champions traded breaks three times in the opening set, and Azarenka won the last three games to take it -- saving three break points to stave off a first-set tiebreak. The second set proved much the same, as Kvitova won four straight games from 3-1 down to take the lead before Azarenka again won a trio of games to seal victory.
Murray, Tsitsipas secure third-round berths at Indian Wells

The Scot, in his 13th Indian Wells appearance, advanced to the third round of an ATP Masters 1000 for the first time since 2016 with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 victory over the Alcaraz. Murray finished with 18 winners to his opponent's 36, but his 29 unforced errors were 13 fewer.
Medvedev, Tsitsipas favourites as Indian Wells action set to begin

Following its cancellation in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was rescheduled this year to be held in October. The newest major champion Medvedev, who defeated Novak Djokovic in the US Open final, leads the pack and the Russian will look to maintain his momentum on US soil and claim his second Masters 1000 trophy of the season.

"This decision was made after thorough consultation with state and local health authorities and tournament owner Larry Ellison," said the organisers in a statement. "As soon as the new dates are confirmed, the tournament will provide more information to current ticket holders including credit and refund options.
