According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, Google said it was dropping the Covid-19 vaccination mandate that the company implemented in December 2021, effective immediately. In a memo to employees, the Sundar Pichai-run tech giant cited the "extraordinary time" that has passed since the onset of the Covid pandemic.

For YouTube TV members with a Base Plan, the NFL Sunday Ticket add-on is available during the presale at $249 for the season, a special launch offer savings of $100 off the retail price of $349 for the season, according to the company. Google rolls out app auto-archive tool to free 60% space on Android devices
The auto-archive tool will help users automatically free up to nearly 60 per cent of an app's storage space, without removing the app presence or users' data from the device. This will reduce unnecessary uninstalls and help users successfully install new apps, said Chang Liu and Lidia Gaymond, Product Managers, Google Play.

The feature is currently available to some YouTube Music subscribers who have reported, however, it's not widely available to every user, reports 9to5Google. It is similar to the real-time lyrics feature that is available on other music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Google to shut Nest Secure, Dropcam in 2024
Until that date, all current features will remain available and users can continue using their Nest Secure and Dropcam as they do now. "All features will remain available until April 8, 2024. Dropcam will no longer work after that date, and you will no longer be able to use your Nest app to check status," Google said in a blogpost.
Google to restrict personal loan apps from accessing user's contacts, photos
"We're updating our Personal Loans policy to state that apps aiming to provide or facilitate personal loans may not access user contacts or photos," Google said. "Apps that provide personal loans, or have the primary purpose of facilitating access to personal loans (i.e., lead generators or facilitators), are prohibited from accessing sensitive data, such as photos and contacts," it added.
Google's new policy to let users delete their account data from app
"For apps that enable app account creation, developers will soon need to provide an option to initiate account and data deletion from within the app and online," Google said in a blogpost. According to the company, the move aims to "better educate" users about their data control and to foster trust in both apps and the Play Store in general.
YouTube adds dedicated 'Podcasts' tab to channel pages
Channel pages on YouTube's main website and mobile apps now include a "Podcasts" tab between "Live" and "Playlists", which according to Google, is available globally, reports 9to5Google. This new tab displays playlists that YouTube Creators have designated as podcasts.Only content marked as podcasts will appear in YouTube Music.
