Himachal flash floods: 7 rescued by NDRF, 9 still missing

Rescuers on Tuesday said seven villagers were rescued from Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district where a massive mudslide triggered by flash floods hit a remote village, damaging several houses and shops and leaving one dead. Nine people are still missing. The seven people were rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) after an eight-hour operation that started late Monday evening, officials told IANS over phone from the spot.

Virbhadra Singh passed away early Thursday at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla after a two-month-long battle with post-Covid complications, doctors said. He was 87.

IGMCH Senior Medical Superintendent Janak Raj said that Virbhadra Singh died at 3.40 a.m., was the sitting legislator from Arki in Solan district, once the pocket borough of the BJP. He had twice recovered from Covid-19. He had suffered from heart attack on July 5 and was in the critical care unit of the IGMCH.
