Six dead as 6.6-magnitude earthquake hits Nepal

According to Kantipur, locals in Doti district have pulled out the dead bodies of three people when a strong earthquake hit the district on Wednesday at 2:12 a.m. Earthquake measuring 6.6-magnitude occurred in western Nepal whose centre was Doti district, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring Center. Another quake measuring 4.1 magnitude also occurred in the same district at 9:56 p.m on Tuesday.
Central Japan rocked by series of quakes, region braces for more

An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.4 rocked the prefecture on Sunday at around 3:00 p.m. local time, with six people left injured by the quake that registered lower 6 on Japanese intensity scale that peaks at 7, Xinhua news agency reported. Many people find it difficult to remain standing during a quake with an intensity of lower 6 and unsecured furniture could fall causing damage and possible injury, the JMA said.
2 killed, 92 injured after 7.4-magnitude earthquake strikes northeastern Japan

As of Thursday morning, a total of 92 people were reported injured in seven prefectures including Miyagi and Fukushima, where the quake was registered at magnitude 7.4, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. Strong shaking was felt in the country's northeastern and eastern areas, especially in Miyagi and Fukushima Prefectures where the quake was logged six upper on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at seven.
At least 12 killed in Afghan earthquake, says official

"The worst-hit areas were Badruk, Darband-e-Safed and Khak Polak localities in Qadis district, east of the provincial capital Qala-e-Naw," Xinhua news agency quoted district chief Mohammad Saleh Purdil. Multiple houses were affected by the quake which occurred at 4:10 p.m., and the number of casualties may rise, the source said.

At least three persons were killed and 27 others injured after a series of earthquakes jolted southwest China's Yunnan Province, officials said on Saturday. The quake was felt in all 12 counties and cities of the prefecture, with Yangbi Yi Autonomous County being the worst hit, Yang Guozong, Party chief of the prefecture said, Xinhua news agency reported. Two deaths were reported in Yangbi and one in Yongping Country. .

The magnitude of the quake was previously measured at 7.9 and 7.5 by the US Geological Survey (USGS), but was later revised to 7.7. The initial temblor was followed by at least three other earthquakes in the South Pacific region with magnitudes ranging from 5.7 to 6.1 in a span of over an hour.
Two earthquakes jolt Chile

According to the National Seismological Centre at the University of Chile, the first quake struck at 8.36 p.m. on Saturday. The temblor was measured at a depth of 10 km and its epicentre located in the ocean, 210 km east of the President Eduardo Frei Montalva base, the Antarctic base of Chile.
