Turkey condemns burning of Quran in Denmark
"We condemn in the strongest terms that the hate crime committed in Sweden against our holy book Quran is allowed to be committed again in Copenhagen, Denmark today," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "The fact that this despicable act, which was carried out in Denmark after Sweden and the Netherlands, was not prevented despite all our warnings.

Rising energy costs spike food prices in Denmark
The data published by Statistics Denmark on Monday revealed that consumer price index increased 4.8% year-on-year in February owing primarily to rising energy prices and global shortages, reports Xinhua news. Between February 2021 and February 2022, the price of butter increased 16.3%, that of cooking oils went up 20%, while that of pasta surged to an astounding 24.3%. Prior to the current spike in food prices, the last significant increase, 5 percent, was registered in 2012, Statistics Denmark said.
Denmark to hold referendum on joining EU's common defence policy
Denmark will hold a referendum on June 1 on whether to join the European Union (EU)'s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said. The referendum is part of a new political agreement on defence reached by leaders of the Liberal Party, the Conservative People's Party, the Radical Left and the Socialist People's Party, reports Xinhua news agency.

"It's a choice that anyone can make. Ready to take in refugees from Ukraine: Danish PM
Denmark will accept refugees fleeing from Ukraine, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has told journalists. Frederiksen also pledged humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and its neighbours, Xinhua news agency reported. According to the Danish news agency Ritzau, the immigration authorities have started preparations to take in Ukrainian refugees.
