At the forefront of this electoral showdown is Congress candidate and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, pitted against his nephew, Vijay Baghel, who is a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from the Durg district.

According to the ED, a combination of forensic analysis and a statement provided by a 'cash courier' has unearthed "startling allegations." It is alleged that the promoters of the Mahadev betting app have disbursed approximately Rs 508 crore to Chief Minister Baghel to date.

Prominent Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, and K.C. Venugopal, have joined forces to defend Chief Minister Baghel.

The ED claimed that it had received reliable information and successfully carried out search operations in Chhattisgarh on November 2, during which they intercepted a staggering Rs 5.39 crore in cash in the election-bound state, news agency IANS reported.

The report was published by the Chhattisgarh Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) which analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 223 candidates, who are contesting in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections Phase I on November 7.

The party has fielded Chhaya Verma, a former member of the Rajya Sabha, from Dharsiwa seat while Arun Vora, son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Motilal Vora, has been given a ticket from Durg City.
