An attacking half-century by captain Meg Lanning (70 off 42) along with vital cameos by Jess Jonassen (42 not out off 20) and Jemimah Rodrigues (34 not out off 22) powered Delhi Capitals to 211/4 in 20 overs. Apart from Lanning, Jonassen and Rodrigues, the likes of Alice Capsey (21), Shafali Verma (17), Marizanne Kapp (16) got starts but couldn't score big.

After a brilliant 162-run opening partnership between Shafali Verma and captain Meg Lanning followed by a strong finish from Marizanne Kapp and Jemimah Rodrigues propelled Delhi to a massive 223/2, Tara was the chief architect of Bangalore's collapse from 89/2 to 96/7. She ended up picking 5/29 in her four overs as Bangalore could make 163/8 in their 20 overs, giving Delhi their first win of the competition.

Marizanne finished with an unbeaten 39 off 17 balls, while Jemimah was not out on 22 off 15 balls to post the second-highest score in Women's T20 franchise cricket. Pushed into batting first, the carnage from Shafali and Meg began in the second over when three boundaries were hit off Megan Schutt.

The franchise bagged batter Jemimah Rodrigues (INR 2.2 crore) and all-rounders Radha Yadav (INR 40 lakh) and Shikha Pandey (INR 60 lakh) along with the U-19 Women T20 World Cup winners Shafali Verma (INR 2 core) and Titas Sadhu (INR 25 lakh). Delhi Capitals also picked up Australia Women's team Captain Meg Lanning (INR 1.1 core) and South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp (INR 1.5 crore).

The JSW-GMR co-owned Delhi Capitals franchise bagged ICC Men's T20 World Cup-winning player Phil Salt for INR 2 crore along with South African Rilee Rossouw for INR 4.6 crore. They also picked up experienced Indian players like Ishant Sharma and Manish Pandey for INR 50 Lakh and INR 2.4 crore respectively. In addition, uncapped Indian speedster Mukesh Kumar also joined the Delhi Capitals for INR 5.5 crore.

Shardul Thakur was bought by the franchise for INR 10.75 crore in the 2022 IPL Auction. He played 14 matches and picked 15 wickets, including his career-best figures of 4/36 and scored 120 runs in the last edition. All-rounder Aman Khan has been traded to Delhi Capitals from Kolkata Knight Riders, DC said in a statement on Monday.

Ponting's backing comes after Pant had appealed for a caught behind dismissal of Tim David but didn't go up for the review despite having a full quota of their reviews in hand. But replays later showed that David had nicked the ball behind to Pant, which proved to be very costly as the big-hitting batter smacked 34 runs off the next ten balls at a strike rate of 309.09 to play a decisive hand in Mumbai's five-wicket win.
