Cyclone 'Yaas' may impact three northeastern states

India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said that the intensity of rain depends on the cyclone movements. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a tweet, said : "Cyclone 'YAAS' is likely to affect the (northeastern) region on 26-27 May. Hon'ble UHM Amit Shah called and enquired about preparedness of Assam, Sikkim and Meghalaya.
Cyclone Yaas: Blue alert in Bihar

Districts such as Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria, Purnea, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Nawada, Aurangabad etc adjoining West Bengal and Jharkhand will be affected due to cyclonic storm. Besides, districts like Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Bhojpur, Buxar, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur and others are also expected to be hit.
Yaas intensifies into cyclonic storm, to move north-northwest

The cyclone in Bay of Bengal laid centered at 5.30 a.m. on Monday near latitude 16.3 degree north and longitude 89.7 degree east, about 600 km north-northwest of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 540 km south-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 650 km south-southeast of Balasore (Odisha) and 630 km south-southeast of Digha (West Bengal).
Yaas likely to intensify into cyclonic storm by May 24

"It lay centered at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday near latitude 16.1 degree north and longitude 90.2 degree east, about 560 km north-northwest of Port Blair (Andaman Islands), 590 km east-southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 690 km south-southeast of Balasore (Odisha) and 670 km south-southeast of Digha (West Bengal)," the IMD said.
Cyclone Yaas: PM Modi directs officers to ensure timely evacuation

While chairing a high-level meeting to review the preparedness of states and Central ministries and agencies concerned to deal with the situation arising out of cyclone Yaas, the Prime Minister spoke about the need to ensure that time duration of outages of power supply and communication network are minimum and are restored swiftly.
