Samsung ranks No 5 in Chromebook market in Q2: Report
Samsung had a market share of 7 percent in the April-June period after shipping 900,000 Chromebooks that refer to laptops or tablets running on Google's Chrome operating system (OS), according to a report from market researcher International Data Corporation (IDC). Samsung's second-quarter Chromebook shipments increased 179.2 percent from a year earlier when it logged a market share of 4.3 percent, reports Yonhap news agency.
Chromebooks reach 11.9 million unit shipments in Q2, HP leads
HP maintained the pole position with shipments of 4.3 million units and growth of 116 per cent in the second quarter. Lenovo took second place with 2.6 million units shipped increasing shipments by 82 per cent from a year ago and Acer secured a top-three position with growth of 83 per cent, propelling it above 1.8 million units in shipments," according to latest data from market research firm Canalys released on Thursday.

The new range of Chromebooks -- Flip C214, C223, C423 (touch and non-touch variants) and AC523 (touch and non-touch variants) -- will be available on Flipkart from July 22 onwards across the country. Powered by Intel Dual-core 64-bit processors and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, Chromebooks give consumers the freedom of up to 10-11 hours' battery life for productivity and multi-tasking.

HP Inc topped the market yet again, with growth of 633.7 per cent propelling it past the four-million unit mark. Lenovo took second place with 3.1 million units shipped, having ramped up production to help ease order backlogs from 2020. Acer, Samsung and Dell made up the rest of the top five, all shipping over 1 million units, according to latest data from market research firm Canalys.
