China sanctions European individuals, entities
In a joint Trans-Atlantic operation, the US, Canada, the UK and the EU on Monday imposed sanctions against Chinese officials they say are responsible for the human rights abuses against the Uighur people in Xinjiang province. Four Chinese officials and a Chinese company in the Xinjiang province were the targets of the sanctions.
EU sanctions China for rights abuses against Uighurs
In the last few years, hundreds of Uighurs, Kazakhs and Huis have testified about being held in internment camps as part of what observers say is a government campaign to forcibly assimilate ethnic minorities. The last time the EU imposed punitive measures on Beijing for human rights violations was after the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989.
China 'bans' Tesla entry into military, govt premises
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal citing sources, people who work for the "military, state-owned enterprises in sensitive industries, and other government agencies" will be asked not to drive a Tesla vehicle. "The Chinese government has informed some of its agencies to ask their employees to stop driving Tesla cars to work," the report mentioned.
US, China conclude the high-level strategic dialogue
The meeting was attended by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan from the US side, while the Chinese side was represented by a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Yang Jiechi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Russia, China, Pakistan, US urge less violence in Afghanistan
The statement on a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan was released by the Russian Foreign Ministry after a regular meeting of the four countries, or the extended Troika, with the participation of representatives of the Afghan government and the Taliban, the Xinhua news agency reported. Russia, China, the US and Pakistan asked all Afghans to ensure that terrorist groups and individuals do not use Afghan soil to threaten security.
'Uighurs treated as 2nd class citizens by Communist Party of China'
In an interview with IANS, Canadian/Albanian historian and journalist Olsi Jazexhi said China has built massive detention centres, which it calls Vocational Training Centres, where Uighur Muslims are detained and forced to renounce their Turkic and Islamic identity.
China, US top diplomats to meet in Alaska next week
Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken as well as US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will attend the meeting scheduled to be held in Anchorage.
China adopts decision to improve Hong Kong electoral system
The decision is another major step taken by the state to improve the HKSAR's legal and political systems since the Law on Safeguarding National Security in the HKSAR was adopted in June 2020.
