US moves to address issues of aged-out Indian children
The update determines when a child's age can be "frozen" and protected from "aging out". For a child to obtain lawful permanent resident status in the US based on his/her parent's approved petition for a family-sponsored or employment-based visa, the child generally must be under the age of 21.
Severe hepatitis cases in children draw concern in US
Nine severe hepatitis cases in children were reported in Alabama during October 2021 to February 2022, seven girls and two boys -- ranging in age from 1 month to 6 years old, Xinhua news agency reported. Those cases were the first that drew attention to the liver illnesses in children in the US. All of the nine children's whole blood specimens tested positive for adenovirus.
10,200 kids dead, injured in Yemen's years-long conflict: UN
The Unicef announced that 10,200 children have been killed or injured since the ongoing conflict in Yemen escalated nearly seven years ago. Just over the first two months of this year, 47 children were reportedly killed or maimed in several locations across Yemen, he added. Last week, the Unicef had said that some 21 million people, or nearly 70 per cent of Yemen's total population, need life-saving humanitarian assistance. In the country, nearly 400,000 children under the age of five are slipping from acute malnutrition to severe acute malnutrition, the humanitarian agency said.
