Reigning world, Olympic pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis wins third event of 2023 season
Wednesday's win was the third successive win for Duplantis in the indoor season after 6.10m in Uppsala on February 2 and 6.06m in Berlin last Friday. Duplantis cleared 6.01m on his second attempt but he opted not to try to beat his own world record of 6.21m. The world record holder had seemed less than happy from his first effort, at 5.64m, where he sailed over.
'Hunger is there', Neeraj Chopra vows to win gold in next edition of World Athletics Championships
With his best throw of 88.13m, Neeraj won silver and ended India's 19-year-long wait for a medal at the World Athletics Championships. This was India's second medal at the World Championships and the first podium finish since Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal in long jump at Paris in 2003.
Indian men's basketball team to play in Asia Cup qualifiers
Five teams that finished third in their respective groups first qualifying round -- Chinese Taipei (Group B), Guam (Group C), India (Group D), Saudi Arabia (Group E), and Palestine (Group F) -- will figure in the Second Qualifying round in two bio-bubbles in Saudi Arabia and Guam. Indonesia, who finished third in Group A got a direct berth as host of the event.

Merlier wins crash-ridden third stage of Tour de France
The third stage witnessed many crashes as Welshman Geraint Thomas and Slovenian Primoz Roglic, both favourites, lost time after falls during the stage. Caleb Ewan of Australia and Peter Sagan of Slovakia also crashed during the closing stages of the day's race. However, it was the first-ever Tour stage win for 28-year-old Merlier.
Rahi wins gold in 25m pistol event at World Cup
"This gives me the assurance that I am on the right track and I have to keep working on this up till the Olympics," Rahi said after her victory. Rahi shot 39 out of 50 in the 25m pistol final to win the first gold for India in the ongoing World Cup. Manu Bhaker, the other Indian in fray, finished seventh in the eight-competitor final.
World Cup: Manu, Chaudhary clinch silver in mixed 10m air pistol
The pair lost 12-16 to Russia's Vitalina Batsarashkina and Artem Chernousov who won the gold medal. In a thrilling contest, Chaudhary and Manu fought back from 6-12 to make it 12 all. But the Russian pair held on to their nerves to walk away with the gold medal. With Saturday's silver medal in the mixed team event, India now has three medals, two of them being bronze.
Prakash becomes 1st Indian to automatically qualify for Oly swimming
Prakash clocked 1 minutes 56.38 seconds in the Sette Colli swimming competition. This timing was better than the Olympics 'A' qualification time of 1:56.48 secs. He is the first ever Indian swimmer to have achieved 'A' qualifying standard in the history of Indian swimming. The Olympic qualifying deadline is June 27.
Chopra bags javelin bronze at Kuortane Games
The 23-year-old athlete, who has qualified for the Olympic Games, began his campaign with a modest throw of 83.21m and improved to 86.79m in his second attempt. Germany's Johannes Vetter won gold with a throw of 93.59m. Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago bagged silver with a throw of 89.12m.
Dutee powers India A to win with national record in Indian GP relay
Later in the evening, Dutee clocked 11.17 seconds to improve her national 100m record of 11.24 secs which she had clocked in Ranchi in 2019. But she fell short of the Tokyo Olympic qualification time of 11.15 secs. Daneshwari AT clocked 11.48 secs to finish second while Himashree Roy was third with a time of 11.17 secs.
