Price war in the sky: Mumbai-Ahmedabad ticket at Rs 1.4K, Mumbai-Bengaluru at Rs 2K

This has now become possible as cut-throat competition in the aviation sector has led to a price war among the airlines to attract fliers. A close look at air fare disclosed that a ticket from Mumbai to Ahmedabad is costing Rs 1,399 on Go First and Rs 1,497 on new entrant Akasa Air for a journey on September 9. IndiGo, the largest domestic airline, is offering ticket on the same route for Rs 1,609. Similar is the case on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route with tickets available in the range of Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,200. While Akasa Air is offering a ticket for Rs 1,997 for a journey on September 9, a ticket on IndiGo is available for Rs 2,208.
Akasa Air issues apology after data breach, says no intentional hacking attempt

The Akasa Air airline apologised for the data breach, saying there was "no intentional hacking attempt" to break into its systems. The airline said in a message posted on its website that a temporary technical configuration error related to our login and sign-up service was reported to us on Thursday August 25, 2022".
Akasa Air operates its maiden flights on Bengaluru-Mumbai route

Further expanding its operations on the Bengaluru-Mumbai route, the airline will commence one additional daily flight from August 30, and another from September 19. In addition, strengthening its pan-India network connectivity, the airline has also added a new route between Bengaluru and Chennai, which will commence from September 10.

The company added that it has received its third aircraft in Delhi which will be put into operation on the Mumbai-Bengaluru sector shortly. "We will continue to grow our fleet by adding one new aircraft every two weeks," Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO said in a statement. "Thanks in no small part to Jhunjhunwala, for which we will always be grateful, Akasa Air is a well-capitalised airline with the financial means to induct 72 aircraft over the next five years," he added.

Earlier, on July 22, India's newest airline Akasa Air on Friday opened ticket bookings for its first commercial flights with an initial network in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kochi. Initially, Akasa Air, whose airline code is QP, will launch its operations by offering 28 weekly flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad starting August 7, 2022.

"The grant of the AOC is the final step of a comprehensive and rigorous process laid down by the DGCA and marks the satisfactory completion of all regulatory and compliance requirements for the airline's operational readiness," Akasa Air said in a statement. The airline added that it is the first airline whose end-to-end AOC process was conducted using the government's progressive eGCA digital platform.
