Senior Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan mounted a scathing attack against Rahul Gandhi, currently on a U.S. tour, and said that he was at the cost of India's image in a foreign land. "While taking part in Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has failed to get into the essence of India, Chouhan said.
Chouhan said, "As the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi is responsible to the nation. Defaming India on foreign soil amounts to sedition. No true patriot does this, but Rahul Gandhi seems frustrated after Congress's successive electoral losses. He's now letting that frustration out by disgracing the country's image in America."
Apparently stung by criticism of the RSS and its volunteers by Rahul, Chouhan came out in stout defence of the Sangh and its volunteers who, he said, have immense devotion in nation-building. He went on, "The RSS has raised countless persons who are dedicated to the nation. Abroad, there's no BJP or Congress -- only a united front representing India as Atal Bihari Vajpayee has tried to show. I remember when I went to America during Manmohan Singh's Prime Ministership, they asked me one question whether he was an underachiever. I told them that the Prime Minister of India can never be an underachiever."
Chouhan further alleged that by claiming that India relies on most of the items imported from China, Rahul Gandhi insulted the Indian artisans, workers, and laborers. "While there are still imports in certain areas, India is now producing much of what it needs", he said as a discrediting statement. By running down Indian workers, Rahul Gandhi has proved that he has lost complete connection with the soil, people, culture, and traditions of India.
He agreed only with one of the remarks of Rahul Gandhi that people are not afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They are not afraid of Modi Ji; they love him. That is why he has become the prime minister for the third time. Under his leadership, India is on its way to becoming the third-largest economy. Rahul Gandhi, your Bharat Jodo Yatra did not connect you with the real India. Nobody becomes great by developing a narrow mindset, said Chouhan.
