However, 2021 has brought new hopes for Bollywood fans as most delayed movies will hit the theatres along with newly announced ones as well. Heavy on sports based movies, this year has a list of superstars releasing their movies on the big screens, and here's a look at them :

Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Tom Hank's classic Forrest Gump, and on top of that, the perfectionist Aamir Khan reprises the lead role in a never-seen before avtar, alongside Kareena Kapoor. Set to release this year, the movie is undoubtedly going to be one of the most smashing releases of 2021.

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, Salman KhanDirected by Prabhu Deva, Radhe is an action-thriller movie, bringing back Salman Khan in a blockbuster lead, featuring Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff and Randeep Hooda in supporting roles. The movie was slated to release on May 20, 2022 but got delayed due to the pandemic, and will now be an Eid gift by Salman for his fans.

Sooryavanshi, Akshay Kumar Expected to break box-office records in 2020, Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, was set to bring back Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif on screen, along with cameos from Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgan in a power-packed police action-thriller. However, this blockbuster watch will now entertain viewers on March 27, 2021.

Maidan, Ajay Devgan A biographical sports film, based on the golden era of Indian football (1952-62), Maidan stars Ajay Devgan in the lead role as football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, who is regarded as the architect of Indian football. All set to hit the theatres on Dussehra 2021, the movie also features Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao.

'83, Ranveer Singh The Kapil Dev biopic, '83 starring Ranveer Singh as the legendary Indian cricketer and Deepika Padukone portraying his wife, Romi Dev, will bring the magic of the 1983 world cup won by India on the big screen. The movie got pushed several times due to the pandemic and will now be released in March, 2021.

Brahmastra, Ranbir Kapoor India's first ever action-adventure trilogy, Brahmastra brings the loved off screen couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor for the first time on big screens. Also, graced by superstars including Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna, the movie was one of the most anticipated releases of 2020, and will now come to theatres on March 6, 2021.

Jersey, Shahid Kapoor Remake of a Telugu film by the same name, Jersey, will feature Shahid Kapoor in play mode, as a cricket player looking to make a comeback after 10 years in the Indian team. This highly-anticipated sports drama features an ensemble cast including Mrunal Thakur, Pankaj Kapur, Sharad Kelkar among others.

Satyamev Jayate 2, John AbrahamSequel to the 2018 hit Satyamev Jayate, this movie will also be based on the fight against injustice and John Abraham will reprise his role as Virendra Rathod. Divya Khosla Kumar makes her acting comeback as the female lead and this action-entertainer will be theatrically released on May 12, 2021 coinciding with Eid.
