Even though quite a few Bollywood script writers have been known to come up with innovative and revolutionizing scripts, yet over the years there have been times when filmmakers seem to run out of original ideas. That's when they make the decision of recreating an already hit classic movie, to ensure box-office success. But unfortunately, most of the times these decisions turn out to be terrible and we can't help but question our top actors on signing these films. Here's a list of seven of the worst bollywood remakes ever

Coolie No. 1 : The 2020 remake of the hit 1995 classic, Govinda fame Coolie No.1 features Varun Dhawan as the lead, playing a dark-skinned double role and a dumb version of Sara Ali Khan. Directed by the original director David Dhawan, with nonsensical dialogues and an illogical, sexist script, this remake should never have been made in the first place.

Himmatwala : Based on Jeetendra and Sridevi's blockbuster 1983 Himmatwala, the 2013 remake featuring Ajay Devgan and Tamannaah Bhatia, was downright offensive and painful to watch. The remake even copied the hit songs from the original, only worsening the already disturbing attempt, and justifying the lowest ever IMDb rating of a Bollywood movie.

Zanjeer : It's heartbreaking to watch one of the most successful movies of Amitabh Bachchan's career being reduced to a joke with a remake. The 2013 Zanjeer starring Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan fails to create the magic of the 1973 blockbuster. A lacklustre script with poorly-written dialogues, falls majorly short even in terms of acting performances.

Karzzzz : Words might fall short to be able to express the disaster this remake of the 1980 Rishi Kapoor fame Karz actually is. Himesh Reshammiya's decision to venture into acting was troublesome in itself, wreaking much havoc to this remake, not to mention his troublesome nasal voice and dialogue delivery, making the movie unbearable to see.

Ram Gopal Verma ki Aag : One of the biggest career regrets of Amitabh Bachchan was to be a part of a remake of Sholay (1975). This movie did everything wrong one after the other, from direction to script to characters. A classic like Sholay should've remained untouched in the first place, but with everything going wrong, the remake is nothing but a laughing stock.

Umrao Jaan : Remake of Rekha's 1981 Umrao Jaan featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan stepping into her shoes alongside husband Abhishek Bachchan. The remake butchered this Indian historical story and the performances came nowhere near to the original ones, failing to capture the magic of the original despite a sincere attempt.

.The Shaukeens The Shaukeens is a remake of the 1981 hit, Shaukeen, works on the same basic plotline of three friends in their sixties vying for the attention of a young woman. But despite a hilarious plotline and Akshay Kumar reprising Mithun's role, the remake doesn't match up the original. With genuine efforts, the movie could've fared more than average response.
