Military equipment is a core part of any military group in the world, be it in the air, on the sea, or on land. As most of the attention is drawn by the Air Force's streamlined jets and huge naval ships, on-ground military machines attract little attention. However, these on-road machines can perform a number of tasks including detecting land mines, locating and destroying any attacking aircraft, or carrying a huge number of army personnel and their belongings to a remote area. The ground military equipment, including the combat vehicles, is an integral part of any army. Here're top 10 tanks of Indian Army:

1. Arjun MK1: Developed by the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) of the DRDO, the Arjun is a third-generation main battle tank. It has a 120 mm rifled gun with a recoil system with Kanchan composite modular armour.

2. T-90S Bhishma: Designed by Kartsev-Venediktov and Uralvagonzavod, the T-90S is a Russian-made main battle armoured vehicle. These tanks carry a leaner version of the Shtora-1 passive/active protection system which lacks the infra-red dazzlers carried on the turret. The Bhishma versions that are modified by the Indian service will be made in India until 2028.

3. T-90M: Another Russian made armoured vehicle, the T-90M features include the modernization of the old turret design, which is equipped with the new advanced fire control system "Kalina,” improved armor on the ammo carousel, and a newly upgraded gun 2A46M-5, as well as a remote-controlled anti-aircraft gun "UDP T05BV-1".

4. T-72 Ajeya: Another Soviet-made military vehicle, The T-72 Ajeya is the main battle tank that entered production in 1971. After the re-evaluation of 1981, the T-72M which was powered by a Model V-84MS four-stroke 12-cylinder multi-fuel engine developing 840 hp and offering a power-to-weight ratio of 18.8 hp/tone were selected as Army's future MBTs. The Indian Army currently has 2410 T-72 Ajeya.

5. BMP-2 “Sarath”: Manufactured by Kurganmashzavod in Russia and licensed in Indiaby Ordnance Factory Medak, the BMP-2 Sarath is an infantry fighting vehicle. The main armament is a turret with a stabilized 30 mm 2A42 autocannon with dual ammunition feeds. The AP-T ammunition can penetrate 15 millimeters of armour at sixty degrees at 1,500 meters. The Indian Army currently has 2500 BMP-2 Saraths.

6. Carrier Mortar Tracked: Developed by the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India, the Carrier Mortar Tracked (CMT) vehicle is a self-propelled mortar system. It can carry 6 people and has 108 rounds of ammunition.
