They say good things take time. And this implies perfectly on some of the most iconic movies of history. While we have seen a number of movies crossing the finishing line in a span of a couple of weeks. But at the same time, there have been dozen of movies that took it forever to reach the big screen. They got trapped in the production stage and kept delaying the release date. This kind of scenario is particularly common when movie studios buy the rights to books, video games, or comics. 1. Brahmastra (4 years): Helmed by Ayaan Mukherjee, Brahmastra which is going to mark the debut of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor as a couple, took four years to complete. The movie based on Hindu mythology fiction started shooting back in 2018 and called it to wrap a few days before. We can’t blame the team for it as covid is the one who paused the production.

2. Pakeezah (15 years): The gift of director Amrohi for his wife Meena Kumari, Pakeezah took 15 years to cross the finish line. The movie starred Meena Kumari alongside Raj Kumar in lead. The movie was released in 1972 a long period to finish that it was transformed into colors from black and white.

3. Avatar (10 years): The highest-grossing movie in history, Avatar took 10 years to complete the production stage. But we can say that the wait was totally worth it. The animation which took most of the time was undoubtedly out of average. The production of the movie started with Titanic and was still released in 2010.

4. Mughal-e-Azam (16 years): You will be surprised to know that every sequence of the movie was shot thrice. It is believed that the principal of photography started for the movie in the 1950s. After several delays and production challenges, the film was finally released in 1960.

5. Mehbooba (8 years): The movie being one of the biggest blockbusters of its time, went into the production stage in 1999 and was finally got released in 2008. During this time, many reasons from Sanjay Dutt’s arrest to Ajay Devgn not being 100% to a movie made the makers halt the movie.

6. RRR (4 years): Helmed by S.S. Rajamouli, RRR is collecting applauds and big money on the box office. Just like Brahmastra, the movie starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in lead started the production stage back in 2018. Just like many other movies, the movie was paused because of the covid-19 pandemic.

7. Boyhood (10 years); Richard Linklater’s movie Boyhood was filmed with the same cast over 12 years. He wanted to capture the character transformations correctly. It became one of the most loved movies of the year and was also nominated for the Oscars in 2015.

8. Alita (16 years): Alita: Battle Angel was released in 2019, but it had been in development since the early '00s. First announced in 2003 with James Cameron attached to direct – and filming due to start in 2005 – production was repeatedly delayed due to Cameron's work on Avatar.

9. Eyes Wide Shut (4 years): The film went through constant script changes and extended shoots. It is even said that it had the longest continuous shoot ever -15 months. There were reports that the cast and crew were completely exhausted by the time the film was completed.

10. Roar (11 years): Written and directed by John Marshall, Roar took 11 years to complete. It also went millions over budget and sank his finances. Also known as one of the most dangerous films ever made, the cast and crew of Roar were hurt, killed and traumatized for many years.
