Everybody loves a hero, who can fight, look charming and do romance, but the craft of an actor truly breaks the standards when he makes the audience love a villain who commits crimes and makes hero's life hell. While the Bollywood film fraternity has always been a hero-centric industry, there are some iconic villains who grabbed our attention and made us imitate them. Whether it's their antics or their scary looks, they have emerged clear winners as our favorite villains. Their roles were so marvelous that after so many years, we still remember their dialogues word by word. Here are 10 villains from Bollywood movies who stole the limelight from the hero, and became icons for years:

1. Amjad Khan as Gabbar (Sholay): While we all think that Sholay is the story of Jai, Veeru, and Thakur, it was Gabbar who was actually running the story. Amjad Khan was one of the most iconic actors who exhibited the art of playing a Baddy.

2. Amrish Puri as Mogambo (Mr. India): Mogambo khush hua, is one of the greatest dialogue Bollywood has ever witnessed. The character was the quintessential Indian villain, which become an inspiration for many coming years.

3. Danny Denzongpa as Kancha (Agneepath): This is a universal fact that Danny has really charming looks for being a villain. Finding a more stylish and sophisticated villain Danny in the cinema world is nearly impossible. To this day, Danny's suave, and panache as a drug lord is something that hasn't been replicated in Bollywood.

4. Kulbhushan Kharbanda as Shaakal (Shaan): Another example of sophisticated baddy. Shaan was a box-office breaking hit and credit for that goes to Kulbhushan Kharbanda, who played the iconic role of Shaakal, who still haunt us at the night.

5. Prem Chopra as Prem (Bobby): "Prem Naam hai Mera, Prem Chopra." And I'm the baap of all villains! The actor's intimidating dialogues raised the bar for all baddies who followed him. No criminal activity looked bad for Prem Chopra's on-screen persona.

6. Sanjay Dutt as Kancha (Agneepath): The work of Danny in original Agneepath set the standards really high for Sanjay Dutt, but the actor made us forget Danny’s acting with his craft. Instead of sipping on a 35-year-old scotch, Dutt's Kancha preferred guzzling moonshine.

7. Tigmanshu Dhulia As Ramadhir Singh (Gangs of Wasseypur): It was hard to find who was the real villain in Gangs of Wasseypur because every character in the movie was an icon itself. But Tigmanshu Dhulia's Ramadhir Singh was just a class apart, who started all the mess.

8. Ashutosh Rana As Lajja Shankar Pandey (Sangharsh): Since the day it was first released Sangharsh blew our minds. From script to acting every aspect of the movie was a notch higher than the first one. But that role which shook us the most was of Ashutosh Ranas Lajja Shankar. His portrayal of the psychotic killer Lajja Shankar Pandey in Sangharsh is one of the most menacing characters ever to have been portrayed in Indian cinema.

9. Ranveer Singh as Khilji (Padmaavat): It was hard to imagine a hero material like Ranveer steeping the shoes of a villain but when he did, he reminded us why he is called the Acer of the craft. His portrayal of Alauddin Khilji, although historically inaccurate and problematic, is one of his best on-screen performances.

10. Ajit as Lion (Kalicharan): Ajit who played Lion or as he says Loin immortalized the soft-spoken, super-suave killer with his peculiar style and characteristic accent. The way he introduced himself "saara shahar mujhe lion ke name se jaanta hai" had us in a fix.
