A storyline, music, and cinematography play an important in producing a movie but that one thing that makes an average movie superhit is its characters. 3. Circuit – Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (Arshad Warsi): There has been very little time when a sidekick got more applauds than the main protagonist and this was that time. The role of Circuit in Munna Bhai was the perfect mix of silliness and daring.

4. Rizwan Khan – My Name is Khan (Shah Rukh Khan): Shah Rukh Khan in the shoes of Rizwan Khan set the benchmark so high that actors even hesitate in thinking about achieving the level. After being accused of being a terrorist since he was a Muslim, Rizwan decided to personally inform the president that even though his name was Khan, he was not a terrorist.

Shashi – English Vinglish (Sridevi): In our everyday life we see role models in everything but never see a superhero in a house maker or a mother but Sridevi made us realize ‘who runs the world girls. Playing the role of a Middle-Class wife who learns English after being embarrassed by her family, changed the portrayal of women in Bollywood movies.

After some self-realization, she proceeds to dump her no-good fiancé. Does anyone need further proof that marriage is not the be-all and end-all for women?

9. Naina – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Deepika Padukone): Naina’s conviction in her own way of life and lack of desire to change for a man, however much she might love him, is what makes her character exemplary. Not only that, the narrative of the film ends with Ranbir Kapoor leaving his job and coming back to her, instead of Naina – the woman – doing so.

10. Anand – Anand (Rajesh Khanna): Anand is that one movie that taught us the art of living life to the fullest even though you know death is coming for you. His happy vibe and zest for life rubbed off on everybody who watched this iconic performance. “ Zindagi kaisi hai paheli, haaai…”
