A wave of nostalgia and entertainment is all set to hit the Bollywood buffs as a long list of sequel movies are going to hit the Box Office in the upcoming year. To take back the dipping business of cinema, the filmmakers are all geared up to take on the legacy of cult classics like Dostana and Bhool Bhulaiya. Sequels come with the advantage of a ready fan base as fans eagerly wait to catch up the story and see the turn it is going to turn and Bollywood filmmakers are no stranger to this advantage. To create hype among the Bollywood buffs, here we bring you a list of the top 10 highly anticipated Bollywood sequel movies, you should look forward to:
1. Bhool Bhulaiya 2: Bhool Bhulaiya has managed to garner not just positive critics from the audience but has also managed to become a cult classic. We loved the role of Akshay Kumar in the movie and now it is time for Kartik Aryan. Starring Kartik Aryan And Kiara Advani in lead, Bhool Bhulaiya 2 is all set to hit the screen next year.
2. Bunty Aur Bubli 2: The OG thieves of Bollywood are coming back to rob our hearts for one more time. The sequel of 2005’s huge blockbuster, the movie stars Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan in lead and also gives a chance to newcomers Sidhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari.
3. Heropanti: We all thanks 2014’s Heropanti for giving us an action hero like Tiger Shroff. The movie is coming back to break the box office record with its sequel movie. Helmed by Ahmed Khan the movie will capture Tiger Shroff sharing screen with Tara Sutaria
4. Badhai Do: Because of its unconventional storyline and superb cast, 2018’s Badhai Ho changed the curve in Bollywood. With another unconventional storyline and cast including Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednaker, the sequel of the movie is all set to wow us. The filming of the sequel is currently underway in Dehradun.
5. Satyamev Jayte 2: John Abraham who played patriot Virendra Rathod in Satyameva Jayate is all set to reprise his role in the sequel. Fans have great expectations from the sequel to the original that had wooed the box office. The film shoot has been in full swing in Lucknow. Helmed by Milap Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate 2 also features Divya Kumar Khosla and is all set to release on May 12, 2021.
6. KGF 2: Since the fans got to know that Sanjay Dutt is playing the role of the main villain, they are on the edge of their seat to see the sequel of Yash starrer KGF. The original movie left the audience left on a cliffhanger and the second installment of it is speculated to give all the answers.
7. Dostana 2: Gay comedy Dostana sequel was much anticipated by the fans. Film producer Karan Johar had cast Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and a newcomer in the film and shooting had begun before the pandemic. However, in the past six months, Kartik has dropped out of the film, leaving the makers to find a new face for the movie and restart the shoot from scratch.
8. Kick 2: Last year, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala announced the sequel of Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandes starrer blockbuster Kick. Neither has the film begun shooting yet nor has there been any news of how things are unfolding in the pre-production stage.
9. Ek Villian returns: Ek Villain sequel was shooting in Mumbai up until the lockdown was imposed and makers started scrambling to nearby locations like Goa, Gujarat and Hyderabad. Mohit Suri and unit also shifted to Goa to shoot with Arjun Kapoor and Tara Sutaria but returned back soon. The sequel, also co-starring John Abraham and Disha Patani, has not resumed shoot post the lockdown in Mumbai. It is eyeing February 2022 release.
10. Tiger 3: Salman Khan had begun shoot for Tiger franchise’s third film earlier this year. After the second Covid wave, the set was dissolved in Mumbai and the shooting has now kick started in Russia. It will introduce Emraan Hashmi has the villain.
