Research firm Canalys recently announced its smartphone market report for the third quarter (July-August-September) of the year 2020. As per the report, worldwide smartphone shipments touched 348 million units in Q3-2020, a 1% year-on-year decline. "Samsung regained the lead, up 2% to 80.2 million units. Huawei slipped into second place with a 23% fall to 51.7 million units. Xiaomi took third place for the first time, reaching 47.1 million units with 45% growth. Apple, which had no flagship iPhone launch in September, shipped 43.2 million, down 1%, while Vivo completed the top five, shipping 31.8 million units," says the Canalys report. The report also names the world's top 10 shipping smartphones during the quarter.

Even though Apple delayed its launch of the new iPhone 12 line, the older iPhone 11 managed to win the first spot in most sales.

Although iPhone SE is not the most premium or top-of-the-line device Apple offers, it still manages to capture the second rank, thanks to its very affordable price with the Apple logo.

No one would look at Samsung A21 and say it looks expensive but it still gets the job done. With a huge 6.5 inch display, three-camera setup, 3GB RAM and a whopping 4000 mAh battery, A21 surely gets the job done for most people.

If the A21 wasn't affordable enough, the A11 brings the price down by some margin with very slight compromises. It offers a 6.4-inch screen and 2-3GB RAM depending on the model you take.

Launched in late December of 2019, the top-end phone of the A-series, Samsung A51 surely comes with a lot of promise. Its 6.5 inches super AMOLED display combined with 8GB of RAM and a 400 mAh battery makes it a perfect entry-level flagship phone.

Xiaomi has made its name for producing affordable phones with little compromise in the performance department. The Xiaomi Note 9 comes with a 6.53-inch display, a 3-6GB RAM and a mouth-watering 5020 mAh battery to support even the most extensive work. The most outstanding feature is not the battery but the unbelievably good 48-megapixel main camera.

There isn't much difference to specifically to speak of in the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 except a smaller camera and a slightly lower price point. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 has exact dimensions as its compatriot but a 13-megapixel camera differentiates the two.

A mid-range performance phone, Samsung A31 falls between the A21 and A51 as it blends in the best of the both to give a mixed-up phone under budget. A 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display, 48 megapixels 1080p camera, and the huge 5000 mAh battery make it an all-rounder phone.

The Redmi 9A brings the features and price of Xiaomi's 9 series even further down to make it a super affordable phone. Even though the specs look more or less similar on the paper, the performance takes a huge hit. With a single camera setup, this phone doesn't promise much.

Launched in August 2020, Samsung Galaxy A01 Core is the cheapest phone in this list. It boasts a 5.3-inch PLS TFT screen and a 3000 mAh battery. However, with just 2GB of RAM and an 8 Megapixels camera, this Samsung phone is made to get the daily job done.
