Since the time of the Saas-Bahu serial age, the Indian TV industry has been on the top of the entertainment providers list. But once in a while, the industry feels creative block as well. To get out of this creative block, the Indian TV serial makers never hesitate to opt the route of remaking the popular and celebrated TV serials. We have time and again witnessed Indian serial makers taking ‘inspiration’ from some of the most-watched and highly-rated TV serials. Here we bring you a list of the top 10 Desi TV shows that are 'inspired' by renowned foreign and Indian regional TV shows:

1. Anupama from Sreemoyee: The story of a middle-class housewife, which is changing the curve of the Hindi TV industry is originally inspired by a Bengali Show. Very few of us know that that the highest-rated TV serial Anupama is the remake version of the renowned Bengali serial Sreemoyee.

2. Ishti Kutum from Imlie: Revolving around the life of an 18-year-old tribal girl who falls in with a town boy, the show Ishti Kutum has aired a decade ago and garnered applauds from critics and audience. And now almost 10 years later, they returned to the TV but as the Hindi remake titled Imlie.

3. Sumit Sambhal Lega from Everybody Loves Raymond: Matching the humor, glory or drama of Everybody loves Raymond is nearly impossible but still the makers of Sumit Sambhal Lega gave it a try and failed miserably.

4. Comedy Nights With Kapil from The Kumars at No. 42: The king of comedy, Kapil Sharma rose to fame after the airing of his show Comedy Nights With Kapil but very few of us now that is the copied version of the British Emmy award-winning show The Kumars at No. 42.

5. Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin from Kusum Dola: Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, another show inspired from a 2016 tv soap titled Kusum Dola, revolves around a love triangle. Virat, a young police officer, ties the knot with Sai to keep a promise he made to her father. They enter the alliance on a condition that they would go their separate ways when Sai completes her education and becomes a doctor. However, drama ensues when Virat’s long lost love, Pakhi, returns.

6. Karishma Ka Karishma from Small Wonder: There is no denying the show Karishma Ka Karishma can be credited for making our childhood happy. But we are sure many of the 90s kids will feel heartbroken after knowing that the story of a little robotic wonder is originally inspired by American science fiction sitcom, Small Wonder.

7. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 from Ke Apon Ke Por: The first installment of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya was a major hit among daily soap viewers (and a major source of memes for social media users). Even though the never-ending ‘saas bahu’ drama went over-the-top at times, there is no denying that it remains a memorable show. After a successful first season, the sequel of the show returned to television and with a plot inspired from a Bengali show titled Ke Apon Ke Por.

8. The Office from The Office: A British show that was beautifully adapted as a beloved American drama which gave us one of the best bosses of all time, turned out to be a disaster when Indians decided to come up with their own version of The Office. I'd rather go to my actual office than to spend my weekends trying to watch the Indian Office.

9. Suite Life of Karan And Kabir from Suite Life Of Zack & Cody: How to ruin your fun-filled childhood in 20 minutes? Watch an episode of the horribly adapted, monotonously bland Indian version of The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody.

10. Kumkum Bhagya from Sense & Sensibility: An Indian soap opera that is inspired by Jane Austin's novel and mini-series. The story revolves around the life of sisters in a matriarchal setting. Even with a hopeful plot, the show, however, failed to distinguish itself from all the other saas-bahu soap operas onscreen.
