Bollywood is relentless. Even a decade later, the Bollywood industry has managed to churn out movies one after another and has garnered the position of supreme in the global cinema platforms. But during this time period, the industry has developed the tendency of taking “inspiration’ from various film fraternities whether it be Hollywood or Tollywood. In past, we have seen Bollywood filmmakers taking inspiration from the South Indian cinema and producing movies that created storms over the Box Office. While we witnessed some epic disasters, some movies gave the audience spine chilling experience. Here are 10 Bollywood movies that are actually remakes of South Indian movies:

1. Hera Pheri (Ramji Rao Speaking): Hera Pheri is one of the most celebrated movies all over the nation. But very few know that this cult classic was adapted from the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking, which in turn was loosely based on the 1971 television film See The Man Run.

2. Billu Barber (Katha Parayumbol): The story of true friendship, Billu Barber was a treat for eyes. Ticking all the aspects of cinema, Irfan Khan starrer stormed the Box Office. The movie was a cult classic but was originally the remake of Katha Parayumbol.

3. Swades (Chigurida Kanasu): Swades is one of those movies, which never fails to pump up the feeling of patriotism in us. The Bollywood hit was based on the real-life story of K. Shivaram Karanth in his novel, Chigurida Kanasu - which was adapted into a Kannada film of the same name in 2003.

4. Ghajini (Ghajini): It is often witnessed that remake fails to do well on the silver screen as the audience has already witnessed the story but this movie proved us wrong. Ghajini, which was based on the story 2005’s Ghajini starring Surya and Naintara in lead was a huge commercial hit.

5. Bhool Bhulaiya (Manichitrathazhu): Manichitrathazhu is a real blessing for filmmakers. The commercial hit of Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar was the remake of the 1993 Malayalam film, Manichitrathazhu, which also inspired, Chandramukhi (2005) in Tamil and Rajmohol (2005) in Bengali.
