Skoda Auto India has released the first official design sketches of the Slavia compact sedan, which is set to debut on November 18, 2021. It is rumoured to start at a premium price tag of Rs 10 lakh and the top model will cost Rs 16 lakh. The sedan will be locally produced at the company's Pune facility. Deliveries are expected to begin by early next year. The Slavia will be the first sedan to be based on the new platform. It will replace the Skoda Rapid in the company’s lineup in India and will compete against the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. As is Skoda’s policy, the Slavia will not come with any diesel variant. The brand has already ended the production of the Rapid compact sedan at its Pune facility, making the Salvia a direct replacement for the old sedan. Here are top 5 features of the upcoming Slavia:

1. The automaker will power the Slavia with 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI petrol engines with options of both manual and automatic gearbox. The Skoda Kushaq, which was launched in June this year, also comes with these engines.

2. The Slavia measures 4541 mm in length, 1752 mm in width and 1487 mm in height. The wheelbase of the sedan stands at 2651 mm.

3. Upfront, the sedan gets the brand's signature hexagonal grille flanked by sharply designed LED headlights with L-shaped LED DRLs. The sketch also gives us a glimpse of the car's coupe-style silhouette, long wheelbase, alloy wheels as well as company badging on the front wings.

4. It gets signature C-shaped LED tail lamps which are divided into two parts, and further extend into the boot lid. The roofline slopes gently towards the rear that merges into the boot lid.

5. Once launched in early 2022, the Skoda Slavia is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh-16 lakh (ex-showroom). As we have already mentioned, the Slavia will take on other models from the midsize sedan segment, including its cousin, the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, as well as Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
