Shehbaz Sharif, the chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has taken over as the new prime minister of Pakistan replacing Imran Khan. Shehbaz Sharif was born on September 23, 1951. He was born in a Punjabi-speaking Kashmiri family in Lahore, Punjab to Muhammad Sharif and Shamim Akhtar, Pakistan. His parents migrated to Lahore from Amritsar during the Partition in 1947. He pursued his Bachelor of Arts from the Government College University, Lahore.
After graduation, he joined his family-owned Ittefaq Group and was elected president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 1985.
Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif who is a three-time prime speaking minister of Pakistan.
Shehbaz has served as the CM of Pakistan Punjab thrice which makes him the longest CM of Pakistan Punjab. For the first time in 1997, the second time in 2008, and the third time in 2013.

His political career started in 1988 when he was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab for the 1st time in Pakistan general elections. Shehbaz considers poet Iqbal as his inspiration. He has an interest in learning different languages and is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, Seraiki, Sindhi, Pushto, English, German, French, and Arabic.
On September 28, 2020, NAB arrested Shehbaz Sharif at Lahore high court after allegations of money laundering on him. Shehbaz remained on trial. On 14 April 2021, he was released on bail in a money laundering reference by the Lahore High court.
