Xiaomi has been making serious moves in the smartphone market ever since its inception in 2010. The China-based technology company has seen an exuberance of success amongst the smartphone market, thanks to its wide popularity among the South Asian countries. Its affordable price range and quality built with almost flagship-like features make it easily accessible and premium yet cheap in nature. The popularity comes as no surprise when compared to the product it offers at the price range. There is little to no serious competition for Xiaomi in this budget segment. Most competition comes from other Chinese brands only such as Oppo, Huawei, Realme, Vivo etc. However, the Chinese technology giant has noticed the potential of the gaming phone market which still remains untapped by the other major brands. With the ever-growing eSports sector, the gaming phone market can really become a game-changer. Keeping this in mind, Xiaomi is all set to unveil its all-new gaming smartphone through its affordable brand Redmi.

The Redmi gaming smartphone will feature a Samsung AMOLED E4 display. It will have a punch-hole cut out at the top centre. The display will support up to 144Hz refresh rate, on par with other gaming-focused phones like Asus ROG 5. The report further says that the phone will also have gaming shoulder buttons, akin to the Black Shark devices.

The phone will use the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor, which is also found on the recently announced Realme Neo GT. This is a powerful 6nm chipset that offers an in-built 5G modem and top-of-the-line performance. It will reportedly sport a quad rear camera setup, which will include a Sony IMX686 sensor with 64-megapixel resolution.

The Chinese manufacturer had confirmed earlier this year that it would be launching several flagship-class phones this year, including their first gaming phone. It would also focus on e-sports with this device, so you can expect plenty of software enhancements on the phone.

Gaming phones are still a niche product, but there are some users who would pay to get a device that does great when it comes to playing mobile games. The Dimensity 1200 chipset from MediaTek is a capable gaming processor and competes with the likes of the Snapdragon 870 and 888.

You can expect Redmi’s gaming phone to come with a high refresh rate AMOLED display, good cooling, and other gaming-related features. It may come with shoulder buttons, which does not come as standard in most gaming phones on the market right now. The device may cost around 2,000 Yuan (~$306).
