The Navies of the ‘Quad’ countries – India, US, Japan and Australia – began the second phase of the Malabar Exercise 2020 on Tuesday in the northern Arabian Sea with the mascular display of airpower and battleships. The major highlight of the phase-2 exercise included the presence of two aircraft carrier battle groups- the Indian Navy’s INS Vikramaditya carrier battle group and the USS Nimitz strike group of the US navy which is the largest warship in the world. The first phase of Malabar 2020 took place in the Bay of Bengal from November 3 to 6 and it featured several intricate drills including anti-submarine and anti-air warfare operations.
