With Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) bagging the majority of seats in Uttarakhand assembly elections 2022, the next big decision was deciding on the Chief Minister of the state. The BJP had announced earlier this week that former CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will once again take over as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand despite his loss in Khatima, the seat which the leader had been winning since the 2012 Assembly polls. Dhami was presented with the opportunity to serve the public based on his significant contribution to the party. He took his Oath for term 2 on Wednesday, 23 March 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior party leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other BJP Chief Ministers like Yogi Adityanath and Manohar Lal Khattar were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
