With Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) bagging the majority of seats in Uttarakhand assembly elections 2022, the next big decision was deciding on the Chief Minister of the state. The BJP had announced earlier this week that former CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will once again take over as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand despite his loss in Khatima, the seat which the leader had been winning since the 2012 Assembly polls. Dhami was presented with the opportunity to serve the public based on his significant contribution to the party. He took his Oath for term 2 on Wednesday, 23 March 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior party leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and other BJP Chief Ministers like Yogi Adityanath and Manohar Lal Khattar were present during the swearing-in ceremony.

1. Pushkar Singh Dhami was born on 16 September 1975 in the Kumaoni Rajput Family in the Tundi village of Pithoragarh district. The 46-year-old Indian Politician hails from BJP and has contributed significantly in his past term while serving as the CM of Uttarakhand.

2. He graduated with a degree in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations from Lucknow University. Dhami further studied LLB from the University of Lucknow and entered into politics around that time.

3. He started his political career as a part of the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 1990. He had made notable progress and climbed up the ladders of the party and earned himself the position he has today.

4. In his early days, Dhami also served as an adviser to Bhagat Singh Koshiyari when Koshiyari was the CM of Uttarakhand in 2001. Dhami also served as the president of the BJP's Uttarakhand Yuva Morcha twice between 2002 to 2008.

5. Later in 2021, Dhami became the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He was sworn in as the CM after Tirath Singh Rawat resigned due to a political crisis. He was also the youngest Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

6. Dhami got re-elected as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on 21 March 2022. The BJP leader was presented with the opportunity despite Dhami losing in the Uttarakhand Assembly Election in 2022 from the Khatima constituency. In the legislative election of 2022, he lost to the Congress candidate, Bhuwan Chandra Kapri, from the Khatima constituency of the Uttarakhand legislative assembly.

7. As BJP won the overall majority in Uttarakhand, the party decided to reelect Dhami as the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The oath ceremony took place on March 23, 2022. For a second consecutive term, the Bharatiya Janata Party retained power in Uttarakhand.

8. Pushkar Singh Dhami was the only son in the family and among his three sisters and him, the responsibilities and duty towards the family were always higher for him. He took part in social work from an early age and also played a significant role in reforming the education system. Dhami is married to Geeta Dhami with whom he has two children.
