The 2021 Porsche Taycan is an innovative electric vehicle, showcasing the high-performance potential of the species. Originally announced over three years ago, the Premium Platform Electric vehicle is a dedicated EV architecture developed by Porsche. It is the first production EV with an 800-volt architecture and a multispeed transaxle and it sets new benchmarks in charging speeds and acceleration times. This simply means that Porsche has recalibrated the Taycan's charging system to better preserve the battery's service life and limit overall power loss during fast charging. It still pumps out a lesser range on the battery than its direct rival Tesla. However, Taycan’s driving experience is more of a supercar than a family car. The estimated price is being rumoured around to be Rs 2.5 crores and it is expected to debut in India in 2022.

The engine setup in every model of the Taycan is unbelievably fast and efficient. The base model 4S generates up to 522 horsepower with the standard 79.2-kWh battery and up to 562 horses with the optional 83.7-kWh pack. The latter comes standard on the top models, the 670-hp Turbo and the 750-hp Turbo S.

Porsche claims a range of 280 miles (412km) in Turbo and around 256 miles (340km) in Turbo S under the WLTP cycle. However, the 800-volt architecture allows quick charging from 5 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes.

There's a long list of luxury options inside the car, including four-zone climate control, massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. The Taycan comes standard with 2+2 seating, but there's an option to add a third spot in the back if desired.

Every Taycan is equipped with standard driver-assistance technology that includes forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking as well as lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist.
