Subhash Chandra Bose was born in 1987 on January 23 to Prabhavati Bose and Janakinath Bose in Cuttack. Every year 23rd January is marked as Parakram Diwas to honor his contribution to India's freedom struggle for Independence. This year marks the 125th birth anniversary of great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He fought for India's freedom from British. He considered Swami Vivekanand as his spiritual guru.

He used to give inspirational speeches on Free India Radio, which was set up with help from Germans. These speeches inspired the youth to fight and join India's Freedom struggle.

He was an Indian nationalist who encouraged the people of India, especially the youth to take part in the revolution and radical protest for freedom against the Britishers. Neetaji was a social revolutionist who left his ICS job to serve in the freedom struggle and motivated people to come along against the rule.

To counter the British rule in India, He founded Azad Hind Fauj, a military regiment, and the Rani Jhansi regiment. He was also the President of the Indian National Congress from 1938-to 1939.

PM Modi on 21 January announced that this year Republic Day celebrations will commence from 23 January and last till 30 January on the day of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination. He also said, "At a time when the entire nation is marking the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, I am glad to share that his grand statue, made of granite, will be installed at India Gate,” PM Modi tweeted on Friday. “This would be a symbol of India’s indebtedness to him.”

Neetaji's Death Anniversary is marked on August 18, 1945. Even after years of his demise, Netaji's death still remains a mystery. It is believed that he died due to third-degree burns he sustained during a plane crash in Taiwan but as per some reports he survived the plane crash and escaped to hide from the Britishers.
