Mohan Bhagwat is currently serving as the 6th Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Succeeding K. S. Sudarshan Mohan, Bhagwat became the RSS Chief in March 2009. Bhagwat, born on 11 September 1950, comes from a family of RSS activists. RSS chief's father, Madhukar Rao Bhagwat, was the Karyavah (secretary) for the Chandrapur zone and his mother Malati Bhagwat was a member of the RSS Women's Wing. He did his schooling from 'Lokmanya Tilak Vidyalaya' and graduated in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry from Government Veterinary College, Nagpur. Here we bring to you some of the lesser-known facts about the RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat :

Mohan Bhagwat embarked on his RSS journey after he dropped out of his postgraduate course in Veterinary Sciences. He later became a pracharak of the RSS.

When an Emergency was imposed in the country, Mohan Bhagwat worked underground. Later, in 1977, he became 'Pracharak' of Akola in Maharashtra and rose within the organisation responsible for Nagpur and Vidarbha regions.

On 21 March 2009, Bhagwat became one of the youngest leaders to head the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh after K. B. Hedgewar and M. S. Golwalkar.

In 2017, Bhagwat also became the first RSS Chief to be officially invited to the Rashtrapati Bhawan by the then President Pranab Mukherjee.

Being the RSS chief, he brought big changes to the organisation, like he set 75 years as the age limit for offices across the Sangh Parivar.

He brought flexibility to the RSS, Shakha timings become flexible, making it easier for office-goers and students to enroll.

Once the RSS chief gave a futuristic statement and said, "India will again become ‘Akhand Bharat’ in 15 years. We will see all this with our own eyes. He said that according to astrology from the saints, in 20 to 25 years, India will again be a united India."
