CNG cars have been favourites of the middle class daily driving people who want to keep their travelling cost at a minimum yet want the comfort of a car. There isn’t just the economical aspect of CNG cars, other key benefits range from no air pollution to no noise pollution. Due to very low emissions, CNG cars are very environment friendly and since there is no main engine to burn fuel to generate power, there is no noise as well. CNG might not be as efficient or enjoyable as Electric vehicles, it is a certified and viable option in the market right now. Keeping in mind its likability in the middle class, many car manufacturers which target the middle class have produced budget-friendly and safe CNG cars over the years. Here are some of them which are still available on the market.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG: Though it is the most expensive car in the list, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios offers a wide range of benefits and comfort. Hyundai is quite famous with the tuning of its engines to produce maximum power out of even a mid-range engine, and its CNG cars with good tuning come as no surprise either. It is available in Manual transmission. 6 colours: Alpha Blue, Aqua Teal, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver and Polar White. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz 1.2 Kappa VTVT CNG is priced at ₹ 8.14 Lakh. This Sportz 1.2 Kappa VTVT CNG variant comes with an engine putting out 68bhp/6000 rpm and 95Nm/4000 rpm.

Maruti Dzire Tour S: Maruti has been always famous for its safety and reliability in the automobile sector. India’s largest automaker, Maruti has designed and developed the Dzire for the country’s middle class. Largely hailed as a commercial vehicle, the CNG model of this sedan offers a lot more. The Tour S comes with powerful 1.2L VVT Petrol Engine with S-CNG technology. It has a manual air conditioner with heater, sun visor with ticket holder, power & tilt steering and front power windows. The petrol variant gives 19.95 km/l and the CNG variant gives 26.55 km/kg. The Maruti Dzire Tour S costs between Rs.5.76 lakh and Rs.6.40 lakh ex-showroom.

Hyundai Santro CNG: The South Korean automaker makes the list once again with its undisputed middle-class reigning hatchback Santro. Over the years, Santro has established its name as a household car. The CNG version, launched in 2019, takes it up a notch and helps the average Indian save a little more. The Hyundai Santro CNG comes with two different variant options: Magna and Sportz. Hyundai Santro Manga CNG comes at an ex-showroom price of ₹6.8Lakhs.

Maruti WagonR CNG: Another commercially hailed vehicle and a common household car, the WagonR does its job of easing daily commute with finesse. Although updated, the new version of the WagonR still largely remains the same. Its spacious and boxy design makes it a good commercial car and helps in overall comfort. S-CNG technology is available in Wagon R LXI and LXI (O) CNG variants. The factory-fitted CNG kit in Maruti Suzuki Wagon R CNG has a leak-proof design thanks to the advanced components used and contributes to a higher engine lifespan. The total CNG tank capacity in Wagon R S-CNG stands at 60L (water equivalent). Maruti WagonR CNG costs between Rs.5.95 lakh and Rs.6.03 lakh on-road Mumbai.

Hyundai’s latest addition to its sedan line-up, the all-new Aura offers an unbeatable S 1.2 CNG Petrol variant in the Aura lineup and is priced at ₹ 7.35 Lakh. It returns a certified mileage of 28 km/kg. This S 1.2 CNG Petrol variant comes with an engine putting out 68 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 95 Nm @ 4000 rpm of max power and max torque respectively. Hyundai Aura S 1.2 CNG Petrol is available in Manual transmission and offered in 6 colours: Alpha Blue, Titan Grey, Vintage Brown, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red and Polar White.
