American Tech giant Apple launched two new iPads during its live event in California, United States. One of them was the original iPad, which is one of the most consistent and simplistic iPads the tech giant has ever produced. Keeping its overall design, dimensions and usability pretty much intact, the iPad (9th Gen) has been taking the world by storm. It starts at just Rs 30,900 in India. Its likeability comes with excellent specs, sleek design and a justifiable price. So much so, tech pundits have called it a bargain for the price it is being offered currently on the market. The new iPad (2021) will likely be a popular slate for students, families, seniors and other less demanding tech users thanks to its modest price, compared to the iPad Air and iPad Pro models, which are more spec-heavy. Here are 10 key features about the updated iPad (9th Gen):

1. Design-wise, Apple has not changed much of the original body except for some better material and shiny front panel. It still retains the classic front button that Apple used to put even on its iPhone before ditching it for the gestures control method.

2. Behind the back, it still rocks the A13 bionic chip that Apple designed and also put it in the iPhone 11 variants. That brings a 20% bump in performance from the last generation and powers some of the new iPadOS 15 features coming to the tablet.

3. While that year-old tablet came in 32GB or 128GB, this version gives you double the storage at 64GB or 256GB. As with most Apple slates, one can buy it with Wi-Fi connectivity, or Wi-Fi and cellular.

4. It now comes with a 12Mp ultra-wide lens front-facing camera. The camera also now supports Centre Stage, Apple's name for its software that automatically frames you in the centre of your camera, panning to follow you around the room and even zooming back out if new people enter the room, according to Techadvisor.

5. It has an 8 megapixels rear camera that clicks crisp photos all day around. It can also be used to take down notes and record HD videos of supreme quality.

6. The addition of a new light sensor means it now supports True Tone, so will dynamically alter the brightness and tone of the screen so that colours always look correct in any lighting.

7. For the sensors, it comes loaded with a Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor etc.

8. It comes with full-day battery power on a single charge. Charging is done with a 20W in-box charger, which is a fairly decent speed for a tablet-like this, though it'll still take over an hour to power to full.

9. It supports the first-gen Apple Pencil, which will be useful for note-taking and drawing, though you'll have to charge it by plugging it into the tablet's Lightning Port.

10. The iPad (9th gen) starts at Rs 30,900 in India while the starting price of the iPad mini is Rs 46,900. Both the new iPads are up for pre-orders on Apple India online store and will go on sale across Amazon India, Apple India store, Flipkart and offline stores.
