After getting confirmation of election result by the Electoral College, President-elect Joe Biden is well on his way to fulfill his first promise. While running for the presidency, the former vice-president promised his voters that he will set-up a diverse cabinet for his term as the President of the United States. With the inclusion of people from all-rounds, his cabinet looks well-equipped with Indian-Americans. He has delivered his promise and has far exceeded it. Earlier, he nominated an openly gay politician for a cabinet seat which if confirmed, will be the first case scenario in the history of the country. His other cabinet nominee includes nominated, Janet Yellen, the first woman treasury secretary; Lloyd Austin, the first African American nominated for defence secretary; Katherine Tai, the first Taiwanese American named US Trade Representative; and Xavier Becerra and Alejandro Mayorkas, the first Latinos to head the departments of health and homeland security respectively.

Biden's running mate for the seat of Vice-President, Kamala Harris broke the heritage of appointment of men for the vice-presidential seat by becoming the first-ever women to get elected. Furthermore, she became the first Black and Indian-American to become the Vice-President of the United States.

A former government official, Neera Tanden became the first women to hold the United States Office of Management and Budget. She will be designated as the secretary of the OMB. Tanden had earlier held crucial offices in the government before getting nominated as the secretary of the OMB. Graduated from Yale, she had worked for think tanks as well as various presidential campaigns for the Democratic Party.

Dr Celine Gounder, who has her roots in Chennai was assigned to the coronavirus task force by the presidential administration. Dr Celine has her expertise in infectious disease and has already been confirmed as a part of Team Biden.

Another Indian-American in the coronavirus task-force is surgeon general Vivek Murthy. He holds the co-chair for the coronavirus containment team in the presidential administration. Murthy had earlier worked for the Obama administration but was asked to step down by the Trump administration. He makes a return now and will hold a key position in the policy-making decisions. His roots trace back to Karnataka.

Arun Majumdar, former Google executive and Stanford graduate has been named as the team leader for the Department of Energy's Agency Review Team.

Pravina Raghavan, another Indian-American has been named as the Executive Vice-President, Division of Small Business and Community Economic Development for Empire State Development (New York).

Puneet Talwar, who has been a key member in the US cabinet during the Obama administration has once again been revoked to join the Department of State. He had played a crucial role as the Middle East Advisor for President Obama in backchannel diplomacy that resulted in the Iran nuclear deal.

Seema Nanda will hold the Department of Labour. She earlier held the Chief Executive position of the Democratic National Committee and became the first Indian-American to do so.
