On December 13 Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. It is a dream project of PM Modi for his Lok Sabha constituency. With this project people will witness a completely new decongested Kashi. This project aims to connect the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple to the ghats of the river Ganga. The corridor covers an area of 5,000 hectares. Holy city Varanasi along with Sarnath is expected to experience a huge push in tourism, because of this project. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Varanasi, and on his day1 he inaugurated the project, offered prayers at Kaal Bhairav, took a holy dip in the river Ganga, gave honour to the construction workers, had lunch with construction workers, witnessed Ganga Arti and visited the Banaras Railway Station to check the development activity as well.

On Prime Minister Modi's visit for the inauguration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath along with the Governor Anandiben Mafatbhai Patel received PM Modi at Lala Bahadur Shastri airport. And then they went to Kaal Bhairav, which is also known as Kashi Kotwal temple.

PM Modi offered prayers at Kaal Bhairav temple along with UP CM Yogi Adityanath. On his way he was welcomed by people of Kashi with flower petals and accepted a shawl, head gear from the crowd. Then PM took a cruise ride to visit Lalita ghat to fetch Gangajal for Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva at the newly constructed premises of Kashi Vishwanath Dham Corridor.

The PM took a holy dip in the river Ganga and simultaneously chanted shlokas, with a Kalash in his hand full of the holy waters of river Ganga.

With Kalash in his hand PM Modi reached Kashi Vishwanath temple premises and performed 'Shivarchan' marked by Jalabhishek from the Gangajal he fetched in the kalash.

PM inagurated phase 1 of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor by removing the curtains on the plaque. And he addressed the dignitaries that were present there at the Mandir chowk, in the temple complex. Baba Ram Dev, Shri Shri Ravishankar were among the dignitaries who were there on the occasion.

The Prime Minister also honoured the construction workers by showering flower petals on them, along with this he had lunch with construction workers.

A stone-made sculpture of Bharat Mata against the symbolic backdrop of India is also installed at the temple complex along with statues of Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar and saint Adi Shankaracharya. PM Modi offered his respect with showering of flower petals at the statue.

The PM and UP CM took a cruise ride back from Lalita Ghat to Ravidas Ghat and offered obeisance at Sant Ravidas temple. PM along with other CM's and Dy CM of BJP-ruled states took a 'Ro-Ro' boat ride to Dashashwamedh Ghat and witnessed the Ganga Aarti and decorated ghats illuminated with 11 lakh diyas.

PM Modi along with Yogi Adityanath visited Banaras Railway station as well, to take a note on the development activities.

The inauguration of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor is also being seen as a political move, when only a few months are left for the crucial legislative elections of Uttar Pradesh.
