Sachin Pilot, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and incumbent MLA from Tonk, turned 45 on Wednesday. Born in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Sachin Pilot is the son of late Congress leader Rajesh Pilot and Rama Pilot. He has been a very important face of Congress in Rajasthan and commands the support of a large section of society. This year, Sachin Pilot will not be celebrating his birthday with his supporters as he has to join the Bharat Jodo yatra with Rahul Gandhi in Kanyakumari. However, his supporters gathered in large numbers in Jaipur to celebrate their leader's birthday, a day before. Sachin Pilot became the youngest parliamentarian at the age of 26, in 2004, following the death of his father Rajesh Pilot. He won the 2004 Lok Sabha election from the Dausa constituency. He won with a margin of 76,000 votes against BJP's Kiran Maheshwari. .

Before entering mainstream politics, Sachin worked with the Delhi Bureau of British Broadcasting Corporation and with General Motors.

Sachin Pilot did his schooling at Air Force Bal Bharati School, New Delhi, and holds a B.A. from St. Stephens College, University of Delhi.

The Tonk MLA is a double MBA. He did his first masters from IMT Ghaziabad and then went to Wharton Business School to pursue his second MBA.

Sachin Pilot has also written a book on his father, "Rajesh Pilot: In Spirit Forever" which has been co-authored by his sister Sarrika Pilot.

Fulfilling his late father's dream, Sachin Pilot on 6 September 2012 became the first Union minister of India to be commissioned as an officer in the Territorial Army.

Sachin is married to Sara Abdullah, daughter of Farooq Abdullah. Initially, Sara's father and brother Omar Abdullah did not approve of the relationship.

But Sara and Sachin decided to get married though the Abdullah family boycotted their marriage. But as time passed, things came on track between the Pilots and Abdullahs.
