Guru Gobind Singh Ji , the only son of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and Mata Gujjar Kaur Ji, was born in Patna Sahib. Every year, 9th December is marked as the birth anniversary of the 10th guru, the founder of Khalsa Panth(spiritual path) for the Sikh religion. 2022 marked the 356th Prakash Gurupurab of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Guru sahib is entitled by the name Sahib-e-Kamaal. The tenth guru was born as Gobind Rai and later was named Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Devotees visit Gurudwara to offer prayers,shabads, couplets, and also to offer Seva which is most significant in Gurudwara Langar. Guru Sahib attained the position as a leader and warrior when he was 9 years old. After the guru's father Guru Tegh Bahadur was martyred on the orders of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for refusing to convert to Islam and supporting the Kashmiri Pandits who were protesting against forcible conversion.(in pics: Guru Gobind Singh JI with Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji)

Guru sahib raised the Khalsa Panth in the year 1699 at Keshgarh sahib along with the five Kakkar's or the 5K'S of Sikhi which are worn by baptized Sikh people always in the faith of the religion. The five k's are kangha(comb), kesh(hair), kirpan(sword), kara(bangle), and kachera(an undergarment for the lower body. The panj pyara(five beloveds of Sikhi) of the religion who were the first to attain the Sikh baptism by Guru Sahib himself were Bhai Daya Singh Ji, Bhai Himmat Singh Ji, Bhai Mokham Singh Ji, Bhai Dharam Singh Ji, and Bhai Sahib Singh Ji.(in pics: 5K's)

He was a warrior who led the battle against the Mughals to protect the Sikhi Quam(religion) even when Guru's all four sons were martyred in the battle against the Mughal army. He always stood up as a strong warrior and leader for his religion and so did the Guru's 4 Sahibzaades(son's of Guru Gobind Singh Ji). The two elder sons of guru sahib became Shaheed(martyr) in the battle against the Mughal Sena(army) and the younger sons were bricked in a cemented wall and beheaded for refusing to convert to Islam on the instructions of Nawab Wazir Khan. Even after this sacrifice of his son's for the Sikh religion, Guru Sahib didn't back off from his religion and said: "so what if my all Sahibzaade have been martyred there are still thousands of my son's alive."( in pics: Chaar Sahibzzade)

Guru Gobind Singh sacrificed his life on 7 October in 1708 at Shri Huzur Sahib, located in Nanded, Maharashtra. He declared guru Granth sahib Ji as the eternal guru and the primary scripture of the Sikh Panth(religion) before his martyrdom in 1708. Guru Sahib today is marked as an epitome of chivalry and courage for the Sikh people. Guru sahib accumulated guru Granth sahib Ji at Takht(Imperial throne) Shri dam dama sahib, where the Granth Sahib was finally announced as the living Guru.(Gurudwara Dam Dama Sahib)

A famous saying of Guru Sahib during the war of Chamkaur Sahib in 1705 which still marks great importance in the culture is- Chidiyan te mein Baaz tudaun, Giddran toh mein sher banaun, Sawa lakh se ek ladaun, Tabe Gobind Singh Naam kahaun.
