Bhumi was born on 18 July 1989 in Bombay, Maharashtra. Her father, Satish, was a former home and labour minister of Maharashtra, and her mother worked as an anti-tobacco activist.

She completed her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir in Juhu, and later Bhumi joined Whistling Woods International to study acting but got expelled from the institute due to poor attendance.

At the beginning of her career, she worked as an assistant casting director at Yash Raj Films. In the year 2015, she made her acting debut in the movie “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, starring alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.

Bhumi has appeared in many Bollywood hit movies like “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha”, “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan”, “Sonchiriya”, “Bala”, “Pati Patni Aur Woh”, “Durgamati”, and many more.
