1. Mahesh Babu: The prince of the South Indian industry was first approached to play the protagonist in the movie. But Mahesh rejected the role saying that he is not too keen to experiment the look of Pushpa Raj and the director even revealed that during the narration he even requested to alter the script.
2. Samantha Ruth Prabhu: Samantha is one of the most versatile actresses of the industry who gave sizzling performance in the movie but originally she was offered to play Srivallu opposite Allu Arjun in the movie.
3. Disha Patani: While Samantha was approached for Srivalli, Disha Patani was approached to give a dance performance in the song Oo Antava. But she rejected it and later Samantha Ruth Prabhu took the opportunity.
4. Nora Fatehi: Nora has time and again broke the floor with her dance performance and she was approached to do the same in Pushpa. After Disha Patani, the offer for performaning in song Oo Antava was given to Nora Fatehi.
5. Vijay Sethupati: The fiesty character of the Police officer which was essayed brilliantly by actor Fahadh Faasil, was originally first offered to Vijay Sethupathi. The actor had no dates to accommodate the project and hence could not take it up. Also, the director, Sukumar apparently also approached Bengali actor Jishu Sengupta and Telugu star Nara Rohit for the role.
