We all know that education is important for each one of us. And in our country, every child is entitled to free and compulsory education, guaranteed by our constitution. However, there are many children who are deprived of education due to various reasons. And interestingly, there are many Indian politicians who are either poorly educated, or who didn't even receive school education. But it's a fact, that there is no minimum educational qualification required for any Indian to become an MLA, MLC, or MP in our country. The only qualification required is that he or she must be an Indian national. Today we bring to you a list of 10 such Indian politicians who are either poorly educated or never ever went to school.

Phoolan Devi: Before joining politics Phoolan was a dacoit. She never went to School and was made to marry an older man, later she faced molestation and sexual assault. All these sufferings turned into anger and made her a dacoit. Later she became a member of parliament from Mirzapur on a Samajwadi party ticket. Phoolan was shot by an assassin outside her residence in Delhi.

Kumaraswami Kamaraj: K Kamraj was a freedom fighter turned politician. Since he was born into a poor family, he had to drop his studies to support his family. Although he was uneducated he contributed a lot to Indian politics. He served as the Chief Minister of Madras state (Tamil Nadu) from 13 April 1954 to 2 October 1963.

Rabri Devi: Rabri Devi former Chief Minister of Bihar is almost uneducated as she did not even complete her junior schooling since she was married at the age of 14. Rabri was made CM of Bihar after her husband and former CM of Bihar Laloo Prasad Yadav was forced to resign from the position following his alleged involvement in the fodder scam.

Jaffer Sharif: Jaffer Sharif, a former railway minister was only 10th pass. Jaffer started off his career as a driver with Congress President S. Nijalingappa and later joined politics.

Vatal Madappa Nagaraj: An ex-MLA from Chamarajnagar, Vatal Nagaraj is a class 10th dropout. He is credited for the contributions he made to preserve Kannada culture and fight for Kannada glory.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi: The Former CM of Tamil Nadu did not pursue his education after matriculation. But he was a remarkable writer and has written many screenplays for Tamil films. Karunanidhi has also made numerous contributions to Tamil literature.

Jayaram Jayalalitha: Jayaram Jayalalithaa popularly known as J Jayalalithaa was the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu. Although she was brilliant as a student and received a scholarship to continue her studies after matriculation, she denied it to pursue her career in films.

Tejashwi Yadav: The incumbent Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav studied only up to the 9th standard from DPS RK Puram Delhi.

Vijaykanth: Vijaykanth better known for his role as Captain played in the movie Captain Prabhakaran, is an actor who turned politician. He won the TN assembly elections in 2011 but very few people know that he is just 12th pass. In the 2016 assembly elections, he lost his Ulundurpet seat on a DMDK ticket to R. Kumaraguru of AIADMK.

Gulzar Singh Ranike: Former Cabinet minister in the Punjab Government, Gulzar Singh Ranike is an undergraduate.
