Emmanuel Macron won the second term as French President on Sunday. He defeated his far-right counterpart Marine Le Pen. According to the French Ministry of the Interior, Emmanuel Macron received 58.5% of the vote and Marine won 41.5% of the vote. However, Macron won with a clear majority but it was less than what he received in the 2017 election. This year the voters turnout in a presidential run-off was the lowest since 1969. While many citizens were happy with the result, some protested against Macron's win. Macron represents the Republic On The Move, often known as liberal political party in France and his rival Marine Le Pen represented the National Rally. Macron holds a master's degree in public affairs and studied philosophy at Paris Nanterre University.

He has worked as a senior civil servant at the Inspectorate General of Finances and later became an investment banker at Rothschild & Co.
