Cristiano Ronaldo broke the world record of most goal scored in football history on Thursday, becoming the greatest goalscorer of all time. Ronaldo, who hails from Portugal and plays for the Italian club Juventus, scored a goal against Napoli which took the legendary winger’s goal tally to 760 in all games. He jumped past Josef Bican- a Czech professional footballer, who set the record previously after he scored a total of 759 goals. Ronaldo’s impeccable feat was even more significant as it came during the final of Supercoppa Italia, a domestic club competition which was won by Juventus. The Supercoppa is a traditional clash between the previous season's Serie A and Coppa Italia winners. Ronaldo helped his team clinch a comfortable 2-0 win to lift the trophy and add into his already glorified cabin. A versatile sportsman with a never-give-up attitude, here is how Ronaldo reached his world-record goal tally.

Before Cristiano Ronaldo got into the limelight, he played with local clubs in Portugal and ushered his way up to Sporting CP, one of the most respected clubs in the country. Although young, Ronaldo had started displaying talent with his quick feet and a mind for the game. His short stint ended at Sporting CP after legendary coach Alex Ferguson witnessed him play.

Ronaldo moved to Manchester United and scored 118 goals and assisted 68 times for them. He touched his prime then moved on to try his luck in Spain. Ronaldo’s genius was well noticed and applauded by some of the best managers and critiques in the English Premier League.

After his move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored 450 goals and assisted 132 times in 438 appearances. In the 8 seasons he spent with the Galacticos, Ronaldo established himself as one of the best ever to grace the league. His rivalry with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi is still regarded as the greatest competition in the game’s history.

Ronaldo has been living up to his standard at Juventus even though his age is supposedly dragging him behind. Now 35, he has already scored 67 goals and assisted 16 times in the Italian league Serie A. He lives his lavish life with his family and even has a huge business empire running parallel to his football life.

The Portuguese sensation has various numbers of record after his name. He has won Balon D’Or, one of the most prestigious individual award in football, 5 times and is second to only his arch-rival Lionel Messi. Other than this, he has won FIFA the Best twice, UEFA Best Player in Europe thrice and Footballer of the Year 10 times.
