When we say Bollywood is the town of love, the rumored link-ups and love affairs come with it in the bonus pack. In the long history of Bollywood, the buffs have witnessed dozens of love affairs that created headlines and controversies in the industry. But that one love affair that came as shock to us all, was of Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy. The influential man of the 70s and 80s, Shatrughan Sinha took the industry by storm when he caught the spark for his relationship with Reena Roy. The affair became so controversial because he left Reena for his wife Poonam Sinha.
Known for his candid remarks, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha was 11 years older to 19-year-old Reena Roy when he first met her. During the filming of Kailcharan, the duo got close and became good friends.
While Sinha stayed friends with her, Reena couldn’t stop herself from falling in love with the charm of the actor and so a fire of love sparked between the two.
Soon, the fire between the couple caught the public eye and her mother got a whiff of it. She warned her she is going to pay for it but she ignored what she is saying.
The year 1981 shook Reena in the worst way possible. While everyone was hoping that the lovebirds will tie the knot, the news of Shatrughan’s wedding with Poonam got spread in the air.
He met Poonam on a flight and fell in love with her instantly. This was something that Reena hadn’t imagined in her wildest dream. Shatrughan married Poonam eventually but he never stopped talking to Reena.
Even after his marriage, Shatrughan acted as nothing changed and he continued to boldly flaunt his affair with Reena.
Soon Poonam realized that his husband was not completely loyal and she took a dig at Reena. Neither did she deny her husband’s infidelity nor did she accept it. She kept on passing insulting remarks on the couple.
At one point of time, Reena was done with being Shatrughan’s second choice. She asked him for commitments but he denied it straightly and that made them drift apart.
Soon after breaking up with Shatrughan, Reena announced her marriage with Pakistani cricketer, Mohsin Khan. Both the bride and the groom were at the peak of their respective careers when they tied the knot. The nuptials took place in Karachi, Pakistan.
