Undoubtedly one of the most controversial break-ups of the decade, the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation case kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The legal fight between the two came two an end with the court announcing the verdict where the jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages. But before this chaos, the couple was undeniably counted as one of the most gorgeous and celebrated couples in the town. From meeting in Hollywood to battling the defamation case in the court, Johnny and Amber shared quite a dramatic story.

The story of Johnny and Amber started back in 2009 when they first met for the shoot of their first movie together titled ‘The Rum Diary. Soon while shooting for the movie, Johnny developed feeling for her which he marked as “something I should not be feeling” during the case trial.

Some kissing sequences in the movie brewed love between the two and the duo started seeing each other. But they didn’t make it official for long and kept it under the wrap. Giving a surprise to their admirers, a year later the release of “The Rum Diary”, Johnny and Amber made their relationship official.

After dating each other for nearly two years, the couple decided to take their relationship to next level and decided to say “I Do” on Depp’s private island in 2015.

But soon, the violation in the marriage started. And one violation came into public eyes when Amber allegedly hit the actor with a “haymaker” punch and it was allegedly the day when Amber pooped on Johnny’s bed.

In the span of just 15 months, Amber decided to file a divorce which was finalized in 2016. Depp agreed to pay Heard “in the region of $8 million” to settle. Heard not just filed the divorce, but also accused the Pirates of the Arabian actor of abusing her multiple time, hitting her with a glass bottle, subjecting her to “cavity searches” during their marriage, and forcing her to have oral sex.

In 2018, the Aquaman actress came out in public and wrote an open letter to Washington Post about a helpless woman who suffered domestic abuse and violence. The actress didn’t mention Johnny’s name anywhere in the letter, but the description of her story pointed all fingers at Depp.

In 2019, Depp filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex over the claims she made in the Washington Post op-ed. He alleges that the piece seriously damaged his career and cost him in excess of $40 million in earnings.

During this legal fight, Amber surprised the whole town with the news of her becoming a mother. Taking to her social media handle, Amber shared a picture with her daughter and revealed that she welcomed a baby girl in July 2021, via surrogacy.

Depp’s $50 million lawsuits against Heard were finally brought before a judge last month and are currently ongoing. The televised court case has found Depp exploring everything from childhood abuse to drug addiction and his volatile relationship with Heard.

The trial lasted quite a long in the courtroom. From exes to working secrets many deep dark secrets of the duo came out during the defamation trial. But at last, the verdict fell in the hands of who is right.

Depp walked away with the victor in his defamation lawsuit against Heard but was only granted $15 million in damages, not the $50 million he was seeking. While Heard was found guilty of defaming her ex, she was also rewarded $2 million in compensatory damages.
