Do you know what hurts the most? Break up of our ideal couple who motivated us to forget all the love issues and gave us a reason to fall in love again. The same pain, all the buffs received when Dilip Kumar broke all his ties with Madhubala and she married Kishore Humaar out of anger. There is no denying the fact Dilip Kumar and Madhubala changed the dynamics of the Bollywood industry with their on-screen performance, especially as Anarkali and Salim. But they never knew that the same tragedy is going to happen to them in real life.

The love story of the tragedy king started on the set of Taarana, where Dilip and Madhubala first met in a 1951 film. Just like many of us, Dilip was mesmerized by the beauty of Madhubala and she too loved Dilip’s persona. Soon the duo reciprocated their feelings and started their dreamy relationship.

Succeeding in their respective career, Dilip and Madhubala worked together in 3 cult classics before deciding to tie knots. The couple was madly in love and was celebrating the moment of their love life while being unaware of what is waiting for them. The storm came into the love life of Dilip and Madhubala when the latter’s father Ataullah Khan stood against their relationship and became the reason behind their break-up.

However, years later Madhubala's sister Madhur in an earlier interview with a leading magazine revealed it wasn't her dad's disapproval but a court case that led to differences between them.

For the unreversed, back in the days, a case was fought between Madhubala and BR Chopra when he replaced Madhubala with Vijayanthimala in his classic Naya Daur.

"The breakup with Dilip Kumar happened due to the court case during Naya Daur in the mid-'50s. The unit was to shoot somewhere in Gwalior. During the shooting of another film Jabeen Jaleel, at the same location, a mob attacked the women and even tore their clothes off. My father was wary and just asked that the locale be changed. Bhaijan called my father 'a dictator' in court and sided with the Chopras (late BR Chopra was the director). Dare pads gayee, rishtey toot gaye (relationships were broken). We love and respect Bhaijan but I have just one question, 'Aapki mohabbat yahan thi, aapki chahat yahan thi, phir aapne aisa kyun kiya (why didn't you side with your love)?'" Madhur said.

Further, she even revealed that it was Dilip Kumar’s ego that ruined their relationship. She said that the ego of the actor was so bigger than his love that he didn’t spoke to Madhubala during the shooting of their movie Mughal-e-azam.

This tiff between the two led to their tragic break-up. But soon the duo moved on their life. While Madhubala got married to legendary singer Kishore Kumar, Dilip decided to tie knots with Saira Bano.
